The Event: From Joy to Violence
On December 29, 2024, DJ Melo shared a heartfelt moment with his fiancée at Bamboleo Night Club.
He was seen proposing to her in front of a crowd while the song "Casate Conmigo" played in the background.
The video showed Maldonado’s joyful acceptance, but just hours later, the celebration turned into a nightmare.
The next morning, police responded to Melo's Elizabeth home after he called 911 and confessed, “I killed my girl.”
Officers found Maldonado, 31, unresponsive and lying in a pool of blood near the bathroom.
She had sustained multiple stab wounds to her chest and abdomen, as reported by independent news.
Aftermath Of The Crime
Court records reveal that Melo, 52, has a disturbing criminal history.
In 2010, he was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual contact after threatening a woman with a box cutter and sexually assaulting her.
He served four years in prison and was required to register as a sex offender in New Jersey.
Maldonado's family is left grieving the loss of a beloved mother-of-two.
Her aunt, who created a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses, described her niece as a kind and loving woman who was senselessly taken from them.
As the criminal investigation progresses, authorities are building their case against Melo, who faces additional charges of third-degree and fourth-degree weapons possession.
At this time, the local police department has not disclosed any details regarding his motives for the crime.
Additional information is anticipated as the case develops.
