Rotesha Silveus: Tampa Mother Charged with Murder of Her 18-Year-Old Daughter After She Reportedly Strangled The Victim
In a devastating true crime case that has gripped the Tampa community, criminal investigations have led to the arrest of 38-year-old Rotesha Silveus.
This arrest comes after she allegedly murdered her 18-year-old daughter, Natavia Sanders, according to Law enforcement officials.
The incident, which occurred on May 11, 2024, began with a frantic 911 call from Natavia.
Sadly, a few days later, Natavia died as a result of her fatal injuries, leading to murder charges against her mother.
On the morning of May 11, 2024, Natavia Sanders made a desperate call to 911 from her home in the 1900 block of E. 23rd Avenue.
She told the dispatcher that she had “just woke up from being passed out” after being strangled by her mother, Rotesha Silveus.
Before she could provide the dispatcher with enough information, the call was abruptly disconnected.
This prompted officers from the local police department to rush to the scene, according to Law&Crime.
When officers arrived at the scene, Silveus initially refused to cooperate, leading to a brief struggle.
Once detained, officers found Natavia unresponsive inside the home.
They immediately began CPR until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Tragically, Natavia succumbed to her injuries two days later, on May 13, 2024.
Crime scene investigations by detectives quickly revealed that Natavia had sustained injuries consistent with strangulation.
Also, this finding was later confirmed by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office, as reported by Komo News.
Initially charged with Resisting an Officer with Violence and Aggravated Battery with Great Bodily Harm, the charges were upgraded to First Degree Murder following Natavia’s death.
Chief Lee Bercaw of the Tampa Police Department expressed his condolences, stating, “This is a heartbreaking case. Our deepest condolences go out to all those who knew and loved Natavia. The hard work of our detectives is a demonstration of our commitment to ensuring justice is served in this matter.”
The death of Natavia Sanders has left the Tampa community in shock and mourning.
As the legal process unfolds, the community will be watching closely, hoping for a resolution that honors Natavia’s memory.
For now, authorities are yet to announce her motives for killing her daughter.
This story is still developing, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
