In a disturbing case from Florida, a Tampa Bay doctor is accused of committing horrifying crimes against children

Stephen Andrew Leedy has been indicted on multiple federal charges, including producing child sexual abuse material.

According to criminal prosecutors, his alleged actions led to the death of a 13-year-old girl.

How Stephen Andrew Was Exposed 

In November 2022, authorities in Florida were called to a home where a 13-year-old girl was found unresponsive.

When crime scene investigators arrived, they found her in the bathroom, hanging from the shower head with a dog leash around her neck.

At first glance, the crime scene looked like suicide - but investigators soon noticed inconsistencies that hinted at something far darker.

When detectives searched the girl’s phone, they found disturbing chats with someone named “maximumuncle#9112,” on the gaming app Discord.

The chats showed that this person had instructed the victim to send them sexually explicit photos and videos.

This person also told her to "engage in daily choking activities" and hang herself in the exact manner she was found, as reported by PEOPLE.

Some of the messages were sent right before her death, indicating that this wasn’t suicide. 

Investigators believe she was manipulated into harming herself by this mysterious online user from Discord who wanted control.

Tracking Down “MaximumUncle”

With the help of the FBI’s cybercrime unit, investigators traced this username back to a man named Dr. Stephen Leedy.

He is a 59-year-old palliative care doctor who is well-known and respected in St.Petersburg, Florida. 

As criminal investigators dug deeper, they found evidence that Leedy was having similar conversations with at least nine other minors.

They also discovered that Leedy had created multiple fake accounts on Discord to talk to minors, and he never shared his real name or job with his victims.

His disturbing pattern was similar each time—he would make contact and gain trust.

Then, he would start giving them orders to produce sexually explicit content and harm themselves. 

According to official documents, he told his victims to cut, choke, and hang themselves

Stephen Andrew Leedy was taken into custody on December 19, 2024.

He was arrested by Holly Springs police officers in Georgia during a traffic stop while he was traveling with his wife and mother-in-law.

Stephen Andrew Leedy’s Trial and Sentencing 

Stephen Andrew Leedy is currently facing serious federal charges, according to the department of justice. 

The charges includes, three counts of production of child sexual abuse material and two counts of coercing or enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity. 

After his arrest, Leedy was handed over to the FBI and taken to a federal jail in Atlanta.

On December 20, 2024, he appeared before a magistrate judge in the Northern District of Georgia, who ordered his transfer to the Middle District of Florida, where the charges were filed. 

Body camera footage from authorities shows Leedy’s arrest, where he appeared shocked and claimed they had the wrong person when told about the charges.

At the time of this reports, Leedy remains in federal custody.

Also, his defence attorneys have stated that he denies the allegations and intends to plead not guilty.
