Oaklee Snow |
In January 2023, Madison Marshall and her 27-year-old boyfriend, Roan Waters, took 1-year-old Oaklee Snow and her 7-month-old brother from their father's home in Oklahoma.
They took the children without getting permission from their father, Zachary Snow.
The children were immediately immediately reported missing by their dad, which led to a desperate search.
Oaklee’s baby brother was later found abandoned in a crack house — a place where illegal drugs are sold and used — but the little girl’s story ended in a much more tragic way.
According to court records, Marshall said that while Oaklee was in their care, Waters repeatedly abused her.
He would beat and sometimes "choke the toddler out" over typical child behavior — like eating too slowly or wetting her diaper.
Marshall told criminal investigators that February 9, 2023, was the day the abuse turned deadly and cost Oaklee her life.
She said she overheard Waters yelling at the toddler to bounce on an inflatable ball.
After he shouted for the fifth time, Marshall said she walked into the room and saw Waters standing over Oaklee as she struggled to obey.
Minutes later, Oaklee, became limp and unresponsive.
According to Law&Crime, Waters didn't let Marshall call 911 and kept saying, “I didn’t do anything — it wasn’t my fault.”
He then took off Oaklee’s clothes, wrapped her in a blanket, and put her in the back seat of his car.
Marshall later told police that when she checked on Oaklee in the car, the toddler’s lips had turned blue, her skin felt cold, and she had no pulse.
However, instead of going to a hospital, she said that Waters drove to an abandoned house in Morgantown, climbed in through a window, and left Oaklee’s body inside.
Marshall later led investigators to the abandoned house, where they found Oaklee’s remains in the bottom drawer of a dressers.
Her left leg was broken and twisted unnaturally over her chest.
The Morgan County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide, although the exact cause was not determined.

Roan Waters |
While Oaklee’s baby brother was found almost immediately, both Marshall and Waters initially claimed they were innocent and didn’t know where Oaklee was.
Despite their denial, they were arrested and Oaklee remained missing for about a month.
Sadly, during that time, no one knew she had already died.
Eventually, while still in custody, Marshall accepted a plea agreement and confessed.
Her statements led investigators to the abandoned home where Oaklee’s body had been hidden, as reported to Law&Crime.
As part of the agreement, she also agreed to testify against her boyfriend, Roan Waters, who was later sentenced to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple counts of neglect.
