A peaceful family hike turned into a nightmare when a couple was brutally stabbed to death at Devil’s Den State Park, in Arkansas.
According to police reports, authorities believe it was a random attack.
The victims, 43-year-old Clinton David Brink and 41-year-old Cristen Amanda Brink, were hiking with their two young daughters when the horrifying incident happened.
The suspect, 28-year-old Andrew James McGann, a former teacher, was arrested a few days later at a barbershop in Springdale after DNA evidence linked him to the crime.
On July 26th, 2025, the Brinks were enjoying the trails at Devil’s Den State Park—a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts—when they were ambushed.
Investigators believe Clinton was attacked first, and while it was happening, Cristen quickly rushed their daughters, ages 7 and 9, to safety.
She then returned to help her husband in an act of bravery, where she was stabbed to death.
The couple’s family later confirmed in a statement that the couple had just moved into the area few weeks earlier before they "died protecting their little girls," as reported by NBC News
"They deserve justice," the family said.
A good Samaritan hiker later found the girls alone on the trail and helped them get to safety.
He then discovered the couple’s bodies and called 911.

After the horrific discovery, authorities launched a massive search for the killer.
Witnesses told police they saw a man with blood on his face leaving the trail and getting into a black Kia Stinger with a partially covered license plate.
Criminal investigators later tracked the car to Springdale, Arkansas, where McGann was arrested on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, while getting a haircut.
Adriana Guadalupe Ruiz Avalos, the barber who was cutting his hair, told NBC News that McGann seemed "very reserved, very timid, and very shy."
She said she knew something wasn’t right when police showed up and started questioning him.
"I had my hands on that monster," she said, shaken by the tragedy.
Investigators later found blood evidence in McGann’s car, along with cuts on his hands, which further connected him to the crime.
Crime scene investigators also searched his home, where they found articles and other items linked to the attack.

| Andrew McGann |
Andrew James McGann worked as a teacher in Oklahoma and Texas before he moved to Arkansas
He had recently been hired by Springdale Public Schools but had not yet started at the time of his arrest.
Some parents who knew him described him as awkward, and they said he often avoided making eye contact during conversations.
Other parents said they were worried about how he acted around some female students.
They said he gave special attention to certain girls and sometimes had lunch with them alone.
However, school investigations in Texas found no proof of any inappropriate behavior, and he had passed all the required background checks for his teaching jobs.
Andrew McGann is being held without bond on capital murder charges, and prosecutors
have stated they will consider the death penalty.
The trails at Devil’s Den State Park remain closed as the investigation continues.
Our thoughts are with the Brink family as they seek justice for their loved ones.
