Daricka M. Moore: Mississippi Man Accused of Fatally Shooting Six People Dead, including His father And a 7-year-old

A Mississippi man accused of killing six people — including a 7-year-old girl — during a violent rampage across rural Clay County has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

On Monday, January 12, 2026, Daricka M. Moore, 24, appeared in Clay County Circuit Court, where he entered not guilty pleas to 11 criminal charges.

This includes capital murder, first-degree murder, attempted murder of a child, attempted sexual battery, burglary, and motor vehicle theft, according to WTVA-TV.

A trial date has not yet been set, and because Moore is charged with capital murder, he is not eligible for bond under Mississippi law.

According to Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott, the shootings happened on, January 10, 2026, across three separate locations in Clay County.

Moore is accused of first killing his father Glenn Moore, 67, his brother Quinten Moore, 33, and his uncle, Willie Ed Guines, 55, at a mobile home:

After the killings, Moore allegedly stole his brother’s truck and drove several miles away to his cousin’s home.

According to ABC News, Moore then forced his way into a cousin’s home, where he allegedly attempted to commit sexual battery. It was during this attack, that authorities say Moore shot and killed his 7-year-old cousin, Mikylia Guines.

Moore also reportedly placed a gun to the head of another child inside the home, but luckily, the child was not shot. It remains unclear whether the gun misfired or the trigger was never pulled.

After his rampage at his cousins home, Moore then reportedly drove to the Apostolic Church of The Lord Jesus, a small church in the area. 

There, investigators say he broke into a residence on church grounds and killed Rev. Barry Bradley, 63 and Samuel Bradley, 61 before he stole one of their vehicles after the killings.

Authorities say the two men lived in nearby Columbus but stayed on church property during weekends.

Moore was later arrested just before midnight on the same day, following a large law enforcement search involving local, state, and federal officers. Additionally, investigators believe Moore acted alone, and no other injuries were reported after he was taken into custody.

During the court hearing, prosecutors confirmed that some of the first-degree murder charges are expected to be upgraded to capital murder.

Circuit Judge Jim Kitchens also ordered Moore to undergo a mental evaluation while he awaits trial. 

Additionally, prosecutors have stated that the state intends to seek the death penalty, if Moore is legally eligible, but they said the case is still developing as investigators continue reviewing evidence.

Investigators have not yet confirmed a motive, and Sheriff Scott said evidence and witness accounts point to Moore as the only shooter.

Despite the scale of the tragedy, members of Moore’s family have spoken publicly about unity, faith, and mental health.

Edith Watkins Bradshaw, a cousin of the Moore family, told The Dispatch of Columbus that the family is leaning on prayer and support, as per ABC News.

"Where there’s unity, there’s power and there’s love,” Bradshaw said. “No matter what, we’re family. Even Daricka, he’s still our family. He’s still a human being.”

Another cousin, Rene Guines McMillian, who is related to Moore and four of the victims, spoke during an interview.

“This has been tough on my family,” McMillian said. “But we understand that this was not Daricka. This was an attack on our family. Mental health is real.”

She added that while their lives have been forever changed, the family remains focused on faith and healing. "Our family will never be the same, but we’re going to be stronger because of this,” McMillian said.
