Dawson James Brown: Mississippi Pastor’s Wife and Son Arrested After 14-Year-Old Living in Their Home Becomes Pregnant
PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. — An anonymous tip to child welfare authorities about a pregnant 14-year-old has now led to the arrests of a pastor’s wife and her adult son, according to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives began working the case on June 30, 2026, after the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services received a report that the teenager was pregnant.
The girl had been living with the family of a pastor at New Heights/College Heights Baptist Church in Poplarville when the pregnancy happened.

According to police reports, they believe 27-year-old Dawson James Brown, the pastor’s son, got her pregnant in October or November of 2025, when she was 13 years old.
On July 17, deputies arrested Dawson and he is facing one count of statutory rape, two counts of sexual battery, and one count of human trafficking.
After investigators searched Dawson Brown’s iPhone 16 Pro, they found multiple images and videos that they say depict him raping the girl.
Detectives also recovered numerous electronic conversations in which the teen told others she was pregnant and identified Dawson Brown as the father of her unborn child.
The girl’s mother spoke with detectives and said that Dawson Brown admitted to her that he was the father, according to the documents. She also provided a statement that she had received money and favors from him.
His mother, 54-year-old Sabrina Brown, was also arrested, and the charges against her include conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, attempted tampering with physical evidence, and felony child neglect.
As per WLOX, the neglect count being defined under Mississippi law as intentionally and knowingly allowing the continuing sexual abuse of a child.
According to official documents, the evidence-tampering charge against Sabrina Brown came after she conspired with the teenager to fabricate a false DNA-related paperwork to authorities.
Text messages from Dawson Brown to his mother, also revealed that she attempted to coerce, direct and instruct” the girl to hand over the made-up information regarding his DNA.
Sabrina Brown was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond, however, Dawson Brown, was ordered held without bond after a judge classified him as a flight risk.

According to online reports, there were rumors circulating around town that the Browns’ church threw a baby shower for the victim.
Chief Deputy Freddy Drennan said investigators are looking into those claims. “We’ve heard that and we are working to verify the facts,” Drennan said. “That is part of what we are looking into.”
The sheriff’s office stressed that the investigation is far from over and that additional arrests could be made. “This is still a very active investigation going on,” Drennan added.
In a public statement posted to Facebook, the agency urged, “We are asking the public to respect the victim’s privacy and not share or release the juvenile’s identity.”
