Lawrence Rudolph's girlfriend, Lori Milliron, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for her role as an accessory in the murder of Rudolph's wife during an African safari trip.
The sentencing took place amidst emotional scenes as the victim's family accused Milliron of destroying their lives.
During the hearing, Ana Rudolph, daughter of the 57-year-old victim Bianca Rudolph, directly addressed Milliron, stating that she had planned to eliminate her mother.
Despite the pain caused, Rudolph emphasized that Milliron would never take away her soul, emphasizing the lack of empathy on Milliron's part.
Milliron was convicted last year of perjury, being an accessory to the crime, and obstructing a grand jury.
She was charged alongside Lawrence "Larry" Rudolph, the dentist who was found guilty of fatally shooting his wife during a hunting trip in Zambia in 2016.
While Rudolph's sentencing has been postponed, Milliron's prison sentence was handed down, prompting her attorney, John Dill, to argue that it was excessive and stating intentions to appeal.
Dill contended that Milliron's convictions were solely based on perjury charges and did not implicate her in the actual murder.
However, Judge William J. MartÃnez believed that the evidence indicated Milliron's involvement in encouraging the crime, justifying the lengthy sentence.
The judge also noted Milliron's apparent lack of remorse, citing her emotional detachment during the trial proceedings.
Following Bianca Rudolph's death, Lawrence Rudolph claimed that his wife accidentally shot herself while preparing to return to the United States from Zambia.
He later received substantial accidental death insurance payments. However, after an FBI investigation, Rudolph was charged with her murder in 2021.
While Rudolph maintains his wife's death was an accident, prosecutors presented evidence refuting this claim, highlighting that the gunshot wound to her heart could not have been self-inflicted from such a distance.
