Video : London Hospital Stabbing Incident: Two Injured, Knifeman Turns Blade on Himself

A knife-wielding attacker went on a stabbing spree, leaving two people injured, one of whom is in critical condition. Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal, northwest London, was swarmed by armed officers who locked down the premises for over two hours, causing patients to seek refuge in designated safe rooms.

The Metropolitan Police stated that a man was arrested at the scene and is currently hospitalized in critical condition due to what appears to be self-inflicted injuries. Inside the hospital, officers discovered two individuals with stab wounds. One of them is being treated for life-threatening injuries, while the other's injuries are considered minor.

Authorities have clarified that the incident is not being treated as a terrorist act, and there are no other suspects being pursued, contrary to false claims of a second attacker at large.

Witnesses recounted scenes of panic and fear during the incident. Amie Ferris-Rotman, a journalist who was present at the hospital, described armed police instructing her to take cover in the dialysis unit along with her father, who was receiving treatment.

Ferris-Rotman shared her experience, stating that armed police were running around while nurses in the dialysis unit appeared scared and panicked. The police ordered an immediate evacuation, but the nurses explained the challenge of moving patients on dialysis machines.

Eventually, the police conducted a brief check of the unit and secured it with armed officers at every entrance. Patients were temporarily confined to a small nurses' room for their safety.

Social media posts from individuals caught up in the incident described the presence of armed police and the evacuation of the hospital. Mark Thewlis expressed concern for his partner, who was in a lockdown situation while the suspected knifeman was reportedly still at large.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed that two people were treated at the scene, and paramedics continue to provide assistance during the ongoing incident. The hospital trust, London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust, tweeted about the incident, urging people to follow instructions given by the police.

A hospital spokesperson assured the public that the hospital had been temporarily locked down as a precautionary measure but has since reopened, with services operating normally.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest of a man involved in the stabbing and stated that they are satisfied that no other individuals are sought in connection with the incident. The police presence remains heightened as further investigations take place.

Central Middlesex Hospital, located in the Park Royal business estate, has returned to normal operations, albeit with an increased police presence. The authorities are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, emphasizing that it is not being treated as terror-related.
