A man in Texas has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison after confessing to brutally beating his newborn daughter to death in 2018.
Jason Paul Robin, 28 years old, pleaded guilty to the murder of 2-month-old Jazmine Rose Robin, who suffered from "at least 70 to 80" bone fractures.
The court ordered him to serve a 45-year sentence, according to authorities.
Robin reached a plea deal with prosecutors, agreeing to testify against Jazmine's mother and his former fiancée, Katharine Wyndham White, who is also charged with murder in connection to their daughter's tragic death.
As part of the agreement, Robin is not allowed to appeal his conviction or sentence and must serve a minimum of 22 1/2 years before being eligible for parole.
Jazmine, who was born prematurely after 29 weeks of pregnancy, spent two months in the neonatal intensive care unit before being discharged.
Tragically, she was killed just two weeks after coming home on July 15, 2018.
The Parents
The Harris County District Attorney's Office emphasized the importance of protecting innocent victims, particularly newborn babies, and expressed their commitment to seeking justice for Jazmine.
After Jazmine was brought to the hospital with severe head trauma, Robin and White were arrested.
An autopsy revealed the extent of Jazmine's injuries, including 70 to 80 fractures, multiple rib fractures, fractures in her long bones, two skull fractures, fresh and old brain bleeds, and retinal hemorrhages.
Following her death, their older son was placed in foster care, while Robin's parents were granted custody of their other baby girl.
Assistant District Attorney Gilbert Sawtelle, from the DA's Child Fatality Division, highlighted the grandparents' love for Jazmine and their desire to see their son face the consequences of his actions.
The paternal grandparents, who deeply cared for Jazmine, expressed relief that closure and justice had been obtained for their granddaughter.
