Ex-Olympic Boxer, Félix Verdejo-Sánchez, Convicted for Injecting and Throwing His Pregnant Girlfriend Inside a Lagoon
Former Olympic boxer, Félix Verdejo-Sánchez, has been found guilty by jurors of murdering his pregnant lover, Keishla Rodríguez Ortiz, in a horrific and premeditated crime.
According to federal prosecutors in Puerto Rico, Verdejo-Sánchez lured Keishla out to his vehicle, where he, along with his co-defendant Luis Antonio Cádiz-Martínez, attacked her, injected her with drugs, and tied her to a cement block.
Subsequently, they drove her to the Teodoro Moscoso bridge, where they threw her into the San José Lagoon.
Verdejo-Sánchez then jumped into the lagoon to complete the murder of both victims.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on April 29, 2021, and prosecutors revealed that it was a planned murder.
Keishla, who was two months pregnant at the time, had allegedly faced threats from Verdejo-Sánchez regarding her pregnancy.
The former boxer has been convicted of kidnapping resulting in death and killing an unborn child. He is set to be sentenced on November 3, facing a mandatory life sentence.
The Justice Department expressed solidarity with Keishla Rodríguez Ortiz's family and praised the relentless pursuit of justice by law enforcement agencies.
His co-defendant, Luis Antonio Cádiz-Martínez, has already pleaded guilty to carjacking resulting in death and killing an unborn child.
