A 35-year-old man from Florida has been apprehended after allegedly using a baseball bat to fatally assault one of his roommates, resulting in a scene of widespread bloodshed within their residence.
Jared Tyler Boone was arrested last week and is now facing a charge of second-degree murder without premeditation, as indicated by court records obtained by Law&Crime.
In accordance with a probable cause affidavit, officers from the Fort Meyers Police Department were dispatched to a home on Broadway Avenue in response to a 911 call reporting an unconscious male at approximately 6:49 p.m. on Thursday.
The caller identified one of the roommates, Jared Boone, as the person who had "cut the unconscious male" and emphasized the presence of blood throughout the residence.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered Boone outside the apartment complex with blood on his hands. When questioned about his injuries, Boone allegedly claimed he was not the one who had been cut, asserting instead that he was responsible for inflicting the injuries.
The affidavit states, "Officers asked Boone if he came from [redacted address], and he confirmed that he had. Officers asked him if he had been cut or if he had done the cutting, and he told them that he had demons in his head and that the decedent approached him. Officers detained Boone and placed him in a patrol car."
During their investigation, the police found a bloody bat outside the front door and asked Boone if he had also used the bat to strike his roommate. Boone responded by stating that the victim had approached him in a way that seemed suicidal and demeaning.

Upon entering the building, the authorities discovered the victim lying faceup on the apartment floor, surrounded by blood and displaying facial trauma.
Homicide detectives arrived at the scene and conducted interviews with several witnesses, including Boone's third adult male roommate.
The surviving roommate informed investigators that he, the victim, and Boone resided in the three-bedroom apartment for approximately a year and had initially connected through Hope Clubhouse, a nonprofit organization supporting adults with mental health challenges.
According to the roommate, Boone and the victim had experienced ongoing tension, although they had never engaged in violent behavior towards one another. The roommate suspected that Boone may have discontinued his medication for an undisclosed mental illness.
The surviving roommate recounted that earlier that day, Boone had been observing the victim closely and making remarks about salvation and Satan.
In the afternoon, while the surviving roommate was in his room, he heard Boone scream, "Get out of here Satan," followed by a loud noise. No verbal altercation or conversation preceded the sound.
The roommate initially assumed that Boone had punched the wall, but when he went outside, he discovered the victim lying on the floor covered in blood and immediately called 911. The roommate confirmed that a bat was kept in the kitchen for protection.
Another resident of the apartment complex informed the police that Boone had recently visited her apartment and smashed a potted plant while speaking about "rebuking the devil in the name of Jesus."
On the day of the incident, this resident witnessed Boone washing what appeared to be blood from his face, hair, and hands on the side of the building, while uttering phrases like "In the name of Jesus, I rebuke thee," and "mark of the beast," "mark of the devil."
