Former British Rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, and Suspected 'Jihadi John' Found Dead in Spanish Prison
In a sad and mysterious turn of events, a former British rapper once suspected to be the notorious ISIS killer 'Jihadi' John was discovered dead in a prison cell in Spain.
The man in question is Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, who was 32 years old. He recently stood trial in Madrid on allegations of leading a wandering jihadist group after leaving Syria and was awaiting the court's verdict.
Abdel Bary's lifeless body was found in El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, in the southwest of Spain, where he was being held.
According to a local report, there were no apparent signs of violence on his body. Spanish authorities have launched an internal investigation to determine the cause of death.
Additionally, his family will be allowed to conduct their own autopsy apart from the official one.
Originally born in Egypt, Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary grew up in London. He lost his British citizenship after allegedly joining ISIS.
The charges against him stemmed from a prolonged investigation that began with his arrest in Almeria at a rented hideaway flat. The authorities suspected that he arrived in Spain just a week before his capture.
During his trial, which concluded on July 14, Abdel Bary faced terrorism charges. He denied all accusations, claiming he had never been to Raqqa, Syria, and insisted he went there for humanitarian reasons.
Prosecutors, however, presented evidence indicating that he used bitcoin to buy stolen or cloned bank cards on the Dark Web.
Alleged accomplices Abderrazak Seddiki and Kossaila Chollouah were also implicated in the credit card scam.
Abdel Bary gained notoriety when he was linked to a Twitter post showing a photo of a severed head in Raqqa. However, he denied that it was him in the image.
The accused terrorist claimed that he and his family had lived in the UK for over three decades and adopted a Western lifestyle, stating his disdain for radical extremists.
Before his radicalization and departure from the UK, Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary made a name for himself as a rapper.
He was also considered a potential member of the infamous 'The Beatles' group of Islamic terrorists who carried out heinous acts in Syria.
The circumstances surrounding Abdel Bary's death remain unclear, and Spanish authorities are investigating the matter.
This incident adds another chapter to the controversial life of the former British rapper, who, at one point, was linked to the ruthless Jihadi John executioner.
