The renowned Oscar-winning actor has found himself confronted with twelve sexual allegations from four male accusers spanning from 2001 to 2013.
Recently, the judge instructed the jury to "strike through" four charges of indecent assault for technical reasons, though the charges were not dropped due to any abandonment by the prosecution.
All the charges were connected to the initial accuser, a driver who claimed that Kevin Spacey Fowler (formerly known as Kevin Spacey) assaulted him multiple times between 2001 and 2005.
During the closing speech at London's Southwark Crown Court, prosecutor Christine Agnew KC emphasized the "enormous power imbalance" in the case, asserting that it revolves around "power and taking advantage of that power."
She challenged the actor's assertion that the accusers were "motivated by money" and suggested that the trial exposed his "aggressive, oppressive, and intimidatory behavior."
Agnew portrayed Spacey's alleged misconduct as a cause of the men feeling "diminished" and "worthless," emphasizing his fame and kindness towards some while being cruel to others.
The prosecutor stressed that it was not just a "strength-in-numbers" case against Spacey but the stories of "four separate men" seeking justice, sharing their experiences with friends, family, the police, and the court.
She argued that men deserve the same legal protection as women, asking why they should endure what they claim has happened to them.
In his defense last week, the Hollywood star refuted the sexual assault allegations, dismissing them as "madness" and "make no logical sense."
He deemed one alleged victim as solely after "money, money, and then money." He asserted that he could have engaged in sexual encounters frequently but found it challenging to trust people due to his fame.
Each of Spacey's accusers took the stand, using strong terms such as "vile sexual predator," "slippery," and "atrocious, despicable, disgusting" to describe the actor.
The charges against him include three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, as well as four additional charges of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
The jury was directed to focus on the occurrences and whether they constituted a crime, rather than precise dates. The trial is ongoing, keeping the public engaged in the unfolding courtroom drama.
