Man Arrested for Brutally Assaulting Wife in Disturbing Kidnapping Incident

A 39-year-old man has been apprehended by Letsitele police in the Mopani District for reportedly kidnapping and brutally assaulting his 35-year-old wife in Mamitwa village.

The man was scheduled to appear in court for the first time at Ritavi Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the Limpopo provincial police spokesperson, provided details of the harrowing attack, which took place on Saturday evening.

Allegedly, the suspect forcefully abducted and attacked his wife around 7 pm, leaving her unclothed in the bushes, as per Ledwaba's explanation.

According to the police report, the victim and her sister-in-law were walking home from an event when the suspect—her husband—recklessly drove towards them and tried to hit her with his vehicle.

"The suspect aggressively ordered the victim into the vehicle and drove off to their home at Nwajaheni village," Ledwaba continued.

The police were alerted and launched an investigation, which led them to stop the suspect's vehicle. The suspect misled the police about his wife's location, but they found the missing woman’s clothes, stained with blood, at his house.

During the investigation, the police received a report that the victim was at the local police station. A passer-by had discovered her naked and severely assaulted in the bushes, and they rescued her.

Subsequently, the husband was arrested on the spot.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, strongly denounced the husband's actions, declaring that they will not tolerate such mistreatment of women. Hadebe emphasized that this inhumane behavior must stop immediately.
