Update on Portland Serial Killing Case: Lee Calhoun named as "Person of Interest" in Serial Killer Investigation

In a startling revelation, it has come to light that a "person of interest" in the Oregon "serial killer" case, Jesse Lee Calhoun, 38, was among 1,000 inmates released early from prison due to Covid concerns.

The former Oregon governor, Kate Brown, granted prisoners early release in July 2021 to safeguard nonviolent inmates at risk of contracting the pandemic.

Calhoun, who hails from Portland, US, had been serving a four-year sentence since November 2019 for felonies including burglary, unauthorized possession of a stolen vehicle, and injuring a police officer after resisting arrest.

The case initially involved the discoveries of six women's bodies, which didn't seem connected, but in a shocking twist, authorities admitted that four of the victims are indeed linked.

The victims, aged 22 to 31, were found in wooded Portland areas from February to May, near creeks, forests, and skate parks.

Though Mr. Calhoun is currently in custody at Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario after being arrested on unrelated charges, no charges have been filed against him in connection to the killings.

The Multnomah County District Attorney's office assures the community that they are not currently in any danger.

The investigation involves a massive collaboration among nine law enforcement agencies and prosecutor's offices in three Oregon counties, along with Oregon State Police.

As the authorities work diligently on the case, the state medical examiner has yet to determine the cause or manner of death for any of the victims.

Mr. Calhoun's criminal record spans nearly two decades, with his first conviction dating back to 2004. His arrest in 2018 uncovered meth, several guns, and over 500 rounds of ammunition.

Described by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office as a "prolific thief and career criminal," Calhoun was sentenced to four concurrent sentences in 2019.

Former governor Kate Brown expressed her horror at Calhoun's arrest, emphasizing her concern for the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragedy.

The investigation into the Oregon "serial killer" case continues, unraveling more chilling details with each step.
