In Bauchi State, the police have made a significant arrest related to a gruesome crime.
The suspect allegedly removed the hand of a 25-year-old man and viciously stabbed him on the head.
The arrest comes after two years of being on the police's wanted list for involvement in thuggery and causing serious harm.
The suspect committed the horrifying act with two accomplices who are still at large.
The suspect's luck ran out when a police patrol team raided a notorious area in the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis known for criminal activities.
During the raid, the police arrested the suspect, Muhammad Abdullahi, also known as Luwawu, who resides in the same area where the crime occurred.
According to the police statement, the suspect was involved in criminal activities since 2021 when he conspired with others, armed with dangerous weapons, to attack and stab the victim, Mubarak Abdullahi.
The assailants brutally cut off Mubarak's left hand and inflicted severe injuries on his head.
During the investigation, Muhammad Abdullahi confessed to committing the crime.
The police are continuing their efforts to track down the remaining suspects, and once found, they will be brought to justice and face charges in court.
In another incident, the Bauchi police made more arrests. Detectives from the 'C' Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended six suspected members of the dreaded Sara-Suka group.
The suspects were arrested during a raid at a criminal hideout in Nasarawan Madina Quarters, Bauchi.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are involved in armed robbery and thuggery. The police recovered a long knife and suspected cannabis sativa (Indian hemp) during the operation.
The suspects confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities during interrogation.
