Shocking Double Murder: Soldier Charged With Murder in Botswana For Allegedly Killing His Wife And Side Chic

On Monday, July 17, 2023, a 35-year-old soldier, Captain Mogomotsi Sepopa, was charged with two counts of murder for allegedly killing his wife, Bogolo Sepopa, and his alleged side chick, Same Moapare.

The incident caught public attention when it was revealed that the soldier allegedly shot and killed the two women on Sunday, July 16, 2023, and kept their bodies overnight at their home in the Village Garrison in Gaborone, Botswana.

Additionally, two others were reportedly held hostage during the incident.

Appearing before the Extension II Magistrate's Court on Wednesday morning, July 19, 2023, Sepopa was remanded in the custody of the Botswana Police Service.

During the court proceedings, Magistrate Queen Moanga read out Sepopa's charge sheet and rights, to which the accused soldier responded with few words, stating, "No, not yet. I will not ask for bail for now."

He was then reminded of his rights, particularly the option to choose a lawyer.

Following negotiations that lasted hours, Sepopa eventually surrendered himself to law enforcement after two hostages were rescued on Monday, according to a Botswana Defence Force (BDF) press release.

Tragically, both Bogolo and Moapare were declared dead upon their arrival at the Extension II Clinic.

This heart-wrenching incident has gripped the nation, and the case will continue to unfold as the accused soldier faces the charges against him.
