In Spain, six German tourists have been arrested on accusations of raping an 18-year-old woman in a hotel room in Mallorca's Playa de Palma resort.
The alleged incident occurred in the early hours of last Thursday.
Five of the suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident, while the sixth was arrested later in the day after attempting to flee.
All of the men involved are between the ages of 20 and 21.
They are currently being held at police facilities and are expected to appear before a judge on Saturday.
According to the complainant, who is also a German holidaymaker, she and a group of friends had visited the popular Playa de Palma boulevard, where she met one of the suspects.
She accompanied him back to his hotel room, where the other five suspects were present and drinking.
The woman stated that when she tried to leave, the group prevented her from doing so and carried out the attack.
Eventually, the woman managed to escape the room and alerted the hotel receptionist, who promptly contacted the police.
When law enforcement arrived at the hotel, five of the suspects were still present.
In Spain, gang rape is considered an aggravating factor and can result in sentences of up to 15 years in prison.
Several similar cases in recent years have shocked the country.
