In a horrifying incident in Texas, an 18-year-old girl was subjected to weeks of captivity, where she was chained to a bed and repeatedly raped by a man and a woman.
The victim managed to escape her captors and seek help from a neighbor, leading to the arrest of Jose Pedro Reyes Jr., 31, and Jaqueline Macias, 29.
They are facing charges of aggravated kidnapping, with additional charges expected to be filed.
The distressing situation came to light when a neighbor in the Foxwood subdivision spotted the teenage girl running from house to house on Foxmont Lane in Humble.
Recognizing her distress, the neighbor immediately contacted law enforcement.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the 18-year-old had been held captive for approximately a month in a nearby house.
She had recently managed to escape, and physical marks on her hands and legs indicated that she had been restrained.
The authorities quickly located the house where she had been held, and the defendant couple was promptly arrested.
According to Constable Mark Herman, it appears that Reyes gained the victim's trust, lured her to the location, and then forcefully confined her.
The exact details of the abuse she endured are still being determined through interviews and medical examinations.
Preliminary information suggests that she was sexually assaulted and subjected to other forms of mistreatment.
Taking advantage of a brief moment when the defendants left the house, the courageous teenager freed herself from the restraints and escaped.
She was then taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention and further evaluation of her injuries. Currently, her condition remains undisclosed to the public.
During the court appearance, Reyes' bond was set at $100,000, while Macias' bond was set at $50,000. It was revealed in the bond hearing that the accused individuals are the parents of an infant who was born during the period of captivity.
