Wedding Planner, Emma Heys, Jailed for Framing Ex-Husband

In a case that shocked the community, a wedding planner has been sentenced to prison for orchestrating a scheme to frame her ex-husband for stalking.

Emma Heys, 42, hatched a plan involving threatening messages, fabricated evidence, and false allegations, ultimately leading to her ex-partner's wrongful arrests.

The events unfolded on Valentine's Day when Heys claimed to have discovered decapitated flowers and an offensive card. She sent various threatening messages and letters to herself and accused her former partner, Christopher Heys, of stalking her stall at Lincoln Christmas Market.

She made 15 false statements to the police and manipulated evidence presented to a county court, resulting in her ex-husband's repeated arrests.

Following a trial at Lincoln Crown Court, Heys was found guilty on three counts of perverting the course of justice. The judge described her actions as calculated and protracted, leading to a sentence of 28 months in prison.

The court learned that after their separation, Heys applied for a non-molestation order, alleging domestic abuse.

She provided fabricated evidence, leading to an interim non-molestation order being granted, prohibiting Mr. Heys from entering Lincolnshire or contacting her.

However, nearly all the evidence presented by Heys was later revealed to be maliciously fabricated.

Throughout the legal process, Heys continued to make false allegations of abusive letters and stalking behavior, resulting in her ex-husband's arrests and extensive police investigations.

However, diligent scrutiny of the evidence, including CCTV footage, phone records, and forensic testing, revealed the extent of Heys' deception.

Recorder Eugene Egan dismissed Heys' defense of mental illness and highlighted the impact of her false statements on future allegations of domestic abuse. He emphasized that her motive was not rooted in fear but rather in malice towards her ex-husband.

Detective Constable Andrew Woodcock of Lincolnshire Police acknowledged the complexity of the investigation and the resources invested to address Heys' false allegations. He expressed hope that the sentencing would provide closure for Mr. Heys, who has been significantly affected by the ordeal.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough investigation and the reliability of evidence in addressing domestic abuse allegations. The consequences of false accusations can be severe and impact both individuals and the justice system.
