76-year-old Suspect Robert Edward Moore Jr, Arrested For Manslaughter in Connection to A Fatal Confrontation At A Golf Course in Florida

A recent incident on a Florida golf course has led to the arrest of a suspect on manslaughter charges.

The suspect, Robert Edward Moore Jr., aged 76, was charged with aggravated manslaughter on an elderly person on July 27.

The victim, Dean William Zook, aged 87, passed away a few weeks after the confrontation due to the injuries sustained during the altercation.

The incident took place on June 28 at the Glenview County Club in The Villages.

It started when Mr. Zook accidentally hit a car that was believed to be that of Mr. Moore. This minor accident quickly escalated into a confrontation between the two men.

Without warning, the suspect struck Mr. Zook in the jaw with a closed fist, causing him to fall backward.

Mr. Zook tried to defend himself, but he was unable to do so effectively.

After the suspect realized the car wasn't his, he just casually left the scene.

Following the incident, Mr. Zook's health declined rapidly. During an interview with deputies, he began to experience slurred speech and unsteadiness.

He was taken to a local hospital, where doctors discovered bleeding in his brain.

Tragically, Mr. Zook passed away on July 16, just a day before his 88th birthday.

Authorities were able to identify and arrest Robert Moore after finding an article about him scoring a hole-in-one in November 2022.

He was wearing the same distinctive shorts, shoes, and sunglasses as he was during the incident.

During questioning, Moore claimed he thought Mr. Zook was trying to flee the accident scene.

He also stated that he was unaware of the victim's age.

Despite his explanations, Moore was arrested without incident and taken to the Sumter County Detention Center. His bond was set at $30,000.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the incident, but no further details have been released at this time.
