Court Convicts Teens in Brutal Killing of A Young Man, Gabriel Petrov Stoyanov After An Altercation On A Bus
Two teenagers have been found guilty of committing murder following a thorough investigation by the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command.
Alfie Kibble (pictured above), aged 18, residing at Manor Close, SE28, and a 17-year-old accomplice were pronounced guilty on August 30th after a trial held at the Old Bailey.
They were charged with the murder of 21-year-old Gabriel Petrov Stoyanov. Additionally, a 15-year-old was convicted of manslaughter.
Their sentencing is scheduled to take place at the same court in six weeks' time, on a date that will be determined.
Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, representing the Specialist Crime unit, stated, "These three teenagers were responsible for the senseless murder of a young man, driven by nothing more than a desire for revenge over a minor incident of playful behavior while under the influence of alcohol.
It's alarming to see individuals of this age engaging in targeted and lethal assaults against vulnerable victims, as exemplified in this case. I hope the court's decision will offer some solace to Gabriel's friends and family, who have endured immeasurable suffering due to his tragic passing.
My team has worked tirelessly, day and night, reviewing extensive CCTV footage to ensure these culprits are held accountable. I take pride in their dedication and professionalism, resulting in today's outcome."
Gabriel Petrov Stoyanov
The investigation was initiated after Gabriel lost his life following a confrontation that erupted between him and the three teenagers in Bromley on November 4, 2022.
CCTV evidence revealed that Gabriel had gotten on a bus and interacted with the teenagers, displaying behavior perceived as 'annoying' by the trio. Despite initially showing no strong reaction, the teenagers were evidently bothered by Gabriel's actions.
Shortly afterward, Gabriel and his friend disembarked the bus on Rangefield Road, two stops prior to where the defendants got off at St Barnabas Hall. The three individuals quickly returned to the location where Gabriel had left the bus.
Subsequent CCTV footage captured them armed with weapons – a knife held by the 17-year-old, a heavy motorbike chain wielded by Kibble, and a bottle carried by the 15-year-old.
The defendants spotted Gabriel inside a nearby takeaway shop so they hid themselves. As Gabriel exited the establishment, they ambushed him, launching a violent and deadly assault. The 17-year-old was captured on CCTV delivering the fatal blow by stabbing Gabriel in the chest, piercing his left lung. The three perpetrators fled the scene.
Law enforcement and paramedics arrived at the scene, and Gabriel was transported to the hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
A post-mortem examination conducted four days later determined that a single stab wound to the chest was the cause of death.
A comprehensive investigation led to the charges against all three defendants. and they were subsequently held in custody.
On August 30th, all three teenagers were found guilty for their roles in Gabriel's murder.
In response to the verdict, Gabriel's family expressed, "No words can adequately convey the pain we have endured due to Gabriel's senseless and unnecessary loss. His memory will forever remain in our hearts. The journey to this verdict has been lengthy and traumatic, and while we grieve, we are appreciative that justice has been served."
