Foiled Cash-In-Transit Heist: Bail Application Resumes for Implicated Traffic Official After The Car Used For The Heist Was Found In Her House

The bail application of Khanyisile Viola Nyalunga, a 29-year-old traffic official from Mbombela, is set to continue in the White River Magistrate's Court in Mpumalanga.

Nyalunga has been implicated in a failed cash-in-transit heist that occurred in Hazyview. According to authorities in Mpumalanga, Nyalunga was arrested on Friday and made her first court appearance on Monday.

Nyalunga appeared before the White River Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, August 1, for further bail application proceedings," said Sekgotodi, the police spokesperson.

"The case was adjourned to Wednesday, August 2, for the continuation of arguments and judgment on the bail application. The accused remains in custody."

The incident in question took place on Thursday, July 27, when an armored vehicle belonging to Fidelity security company was attacked while traveling from White River to Hazyview.

The attackers rammed the vehicle with a grey Mercedes-Benz sedan and opened fire, injuring the security guards inside. The assailants fled the scene with the stolen sedan and three other vehicles.

Authorities found the stolen vehicles, including one registered under Nyalunga's name, parked at her residence, and after a thorough investigation, authorities linked Nyalunga to the crime.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the recovered vehicles had been reported as stolen from different locations.

As a result, Nyalunga is facing charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, robbery under aggravating circumstances, attempted murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The court proceedings will continue as the case unfolds, and the accused traffic official remains in custody until further notice.
