Former WWE Star "Sunny" Pleads No Contest in Fatal Drunk Driving Case

A former WWE Hall of Fame member entered a no-contest plea on Wednesday in relation to causing the death of an elderly man in a drunk driving accident.

Tamara “Tammy” Lynn Sytch, 50, known by her ring name “Sunny,” is facing more than 25 and a half years in connection with DUI charges leading to a person's death, and driving with a suspended or revoked license that resulted in death.

The sentencing is scheduled for November 27 in Volusia County, Florida.

Reports indicate that on March 25, 2022, Sytch was involved in a drunk driving collision that claimed the life of Julian Lafrancis Lasseter, 75.

She crashed her Mercedes into Lasseter’s Kia, causing him to hit another vehicle ahead of him at a traffic light. According to witnesses, she was driving at a high speed.

Four occupants of the third vehicle suffered minor injuries, while Lasseter died instantly at the scene. Sytch was hospitalized and later released.

A toxicology report revealed that her blood alcohol content (BAC) was .280, more than three times the legal limit of .08.

Lasseter was described as a generous and vibrant individual who dedicated himself to helping others. His obituary noted his strong faith and his commitment to assisting people in need.

Sytch gained recognition as a pro-wrestling manager during the mid-1990s to 2000, a period that marked the wrestling industry's peak popularity. She worked with WWE, WCW, and ECW, influential companies in the field.

However, she has a history of  multiple drunk driving incidents. Sytch had faced DUI arrests on at least six prior occasions in various states, before this last incident that has claimed a life.

Jim Cornette, a prominent figure in the wrestling world who had worked with Sytch at the start of her career, expressed frustration after the fatal accident.

He emphasized the need for accountability and expressed concern for Sytch's trajectory.
