How a Prank Gone Wrong Landed a Prankster in Police Custody

Daniel Christopher, a Nigerian prankster, has shared his harrowing experience of how he was nearly lynched by a mob, and subsequently spent 707 days in police custody, after a robbery prank went sideways.

Trouble began on August 3, 2021, while he was shooting a prank video for D9ja Spirit Talent Hunt, at a Point of Sale (PoS) center.

The PoS operator mistook him for a real robber, and despite trying to prove it was just a prank, a mob attacked him.

Daniel expressed his joy at finally being a free man and thanked his lawyer and everyone who helped secure his freedom.

He revealed how the misunderstanding led to him losing his belongings, including money meant for the prize.

After he was taken to the police station, he faced further troubles, including a demand of 300,000 Naira for his bail.

After days of no communication with family and friends, he was transferred to FSARs in Ikeja, where he endured torture and forced to sign a fabricated statement.

After 670 days of trials, he was eventually vindicated and freed.

Although he couldn't reclaim the lost time and money, Daniel remains grateful to God and determined to become a celebrated Nigerian.
