A Kenyan pastor named Gerald Kamanga Gichohi from Victory Centre has been accused of killing his wife, Margaret Wanjiku Kamanga, and disposing of her body in a nearby ditch.
On August 1, 2023, Bungoma County Police Commander, Francis Kooli, confirmed the grim event and revealed that the suspect had sent a text message to his younger brother, confessing to his crime.
The text contained details of the terrible act and his plans to take his own life.
The message urged his brother not to inform his son about the tragic death of his mother until after the son's exams were completed.
Additionally, the suspect instructed his brother to sell a piece of land and care for his son after their mother's burial.
After the alleged murder, the suspect fled to Nyandurua county, where he reportedly attempted to end his own life. However, he was rescued by the police and is now receiving medical treatment in the hospital.
“The suspect is being closely monitored and will face murder charges once his condition stabilizes,” stated Kooli.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy, and the village remains in shock and mourning over this tragic event.
