Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for The Murder of His Pregnant Partner in Hackney

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his pregnant partner in Hackney.

Ailish Walsh, (pictured above) who was almost 23 weeks pregnant, was brutally attacked by Liam Taylor, the father of her unborn child, on the evening of Thursday, December 15, 2022.

The investigation was immediately launched, leading to Taylor's arrest on Sunday, December 18. He was charged with Ailish's murder and pleaded guilty in court on April 1, 2023.

On Thursday, August 24, Taylor was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 27 years at the Central Criminal Court.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Rogers, who led the investigation, expressed sympathy for Ailish's family and emphasized that Taylor is a dangerous individual who poses a threat to women and society.

The tragic incident unfolded when officers were flagged down outside Ailish's flat, where they found her in need of immediate assistance.

Despite the efforts of the London Ambulance Service, she could not be saved and passed away in the arms of her father, who had rushed to the scene after being alerted by one of her friends.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Ailish had suffered multiple injuries and stab wounds, inflicted by a pair of scissors found at the flat.

The homicide team from the Metropolitan Police quickly identified Taylor as the suspect and arrested him at another location.

Through a thorough investigation, they established a solid timeline of Taylor's movements, which confirmed his role as the perpetrator.

It was discovered that prior to her death, Ailish had caught Taylor using drugs in her flat and had asked him to leave.

Taylor, who gave a no comment interview and has shown no remorse for the murder, will now face the consequences of his actions as he begins his life sentence.

The sentencing brings some measure of justice for Ailish and her grieving family.
