A father was charged with murder after admitting to shooting his son during a heated argument over just $2.50.
John C. Shively, 64, allegedly killed his son Zachary S. Shively, 25, in Madison, Wisconsin.
Police responded to a distress call at their home on June 22, 2023, finding Zachary deceased inside the residence.
According to the incident report, John stated that the argument between him and his son escalated into a physical confrontation over financial issues.
The criminal complaint revealed that Zachary demanded $2.50 from his father, who only had $2 and some change.
Despite the small difference, the dispute intensified.
The situation took a terrible, with Zachary allegedly hitting his father, who retaliated by firing a shot at his son.
Tragically, Zachary died from a gunshot wound to the heart and aorta.
John Shively expressed regret over his actions, hoping the gun would only scare his son away.
He was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and using a dangerous weapon.
After posting bond, he awaits his hearing on August 1.
