A tragic incident unfolded as a father allegedly took the lives of his estranged wife and his three young children, aged 2, 5, and 9, before ending his own life in Oklahoma.
Around 11:30 p.m., authorities responded to a domestic call at a home on the northwest side of the city, after a family member discovered gunshot victims, according to a police statement.
Upon entering the residence, officers found five individuals with gunshot wounds; sadly, three of them had already passed away.
The shooter, identified as 28-year-old Reuben Armendariz, and one of the children were rushed to the hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
The motive behind the tragic event has yet to be revealed.
"The investigation is still in its initial stages, and detectives are currently working to reconstruct the series of events that led to this tragedy," stated the press release.
The victims were identified as Cassandra Flores, 29, and her children: Hillary, 9; Damaris, 5; and Matias Armendariz, 2.
Reuben Armendariz and Cassandra Flores were married but separated, the police disclosed.
One of Flores' acquaintances, Jennifer Johnson, expressed her disbelief in an interview with Oklahoma City CBS affiliate News 9.
"It's just unreal," she said to the TV station. "I never expected that from Ruben at all. He was so quiet, but they've been together since she was like 17, so you know they've been together for a long time."
