Tragic Florida Shooting: Teen Arrested for Fatally Shooting Aunt's Boyfriend

In Florida, a 22-year-old man named Joel Thomas Ferrer was taken into custody after a very serious incident.

He allegedly killed his aunt's boyfriend, David Nathaniel Jackson, after they had a heated argument about Joel's unsafe handling of a firearm.

The tragic incident happened at the Regency Oaks apartment complex.

According to court documents reviewed by Law&Crime, the police responded to a shooting at the apartment complex.

When they arrived, they found David Jackson lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds.

Sadly, he did not survive and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A witness saw a man with a dark-colored backpack running away from the scene, and he provided an audio recording to the authorities, confirming that Joel was involved in the shooting.

During interviews with the police, Trisha Marie Ferrer, who lived in the same apartment, explained what led to the tragedy.

Jackson and Joel were arguing about firearms in the home, particularly because of the children's safety.

Despite Jackson's attempts to reason with Joel, the situation escalated, and Joel shot Jackson multiple times before fleeing the area.

Joel Ferrer evaded the police for two days before turning himself in.

He appeared before a judge, who ordered him to be held without bond. Joel pleaded not guilty, and his arraignment is scheduled for August 29.
