14-Year-Old Boy Arrested in Florida Double Shooting For Shooting His Mother To Death And Injuring Her Boyfriend

In Riverview, Florida, a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody on Saturday. He is accused of fatally shooting his mother and injuring his mother's boyfriend with multiple gunshots, as reported by authorities. 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a flurry of 911 calls shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, all related to an incident in the Summerfield subdivision, according to Sheriff Chad Chronister, who spoke at a press conference.

Chronister described the scene as a heart-wrenching nightmare. 

Deputies arrived at the scene to find the 14-year-old boy, who had reportedly aimed a firearm at his own head several times, making threats to take his own life. After a 16-minute negotiation, deputies used a non-lethal projectile to subdue the boy and prevent him from reaching for the gun. 

He was subsequently apprehended.

Following this, deputies received another call about a man who had fled his residence after being shot five times, sustaining gunshot wounds to his lower torso, hands, and face. This injured individual was identified as the boyfriend of the suspect's mother and was rushed to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition.

A woman's lifeless body was discovered in the driveway of a nearby home. This woman, who was the suspect's mother, was declared dead at the scene. 

According to Chronister, deputies interviewed the boy's older brother, who was present in the house where the woman's body was found. The brother recounted hearing a heated argument between his mother and her boyfriend, followed by multiple gunshots. 

When he left his room, he witnessed the suspect shooting his mother.

The suspect then turned the gun toward his older brother, who managed to escape. Chronister believes that the 14-year-old initially shot his mother's boyfriend during their argument and then proceeded to kill his own mother. 

Following the incident, the boy reportedly roamed the neighborhood in search of his mother's boyfriend with the intent to harm him further.

The tragic event has forever altered the lives of this family, with the loss of a mother. 

Chronister expressed deep sorrow for the situation, emphasizing that the 14-year-old suspect's life has taken a dark turn, as he will likely spend the rest of his life in a detention facility. 

It's worth noting that the suspect's older brother emerged unscathed from the incident, and the 14-year-old had no previous criminal record. 

The sheriff's office is awaiting a search warrant.
