A Mother 'Enslaved' and Abused : Three Accused Killers 'Starve, Torture, and Beat' Mother to Death, Leaving Her in a Locked Cupboard

In a shocking and disturbing case, a mother named Shakira Spencer endured unimaginable torment at the hands of three individuals described as 'sadistic killers.' She was subjected to starvation, torture, and beatings before being left to perish in a locked cupboard within her West London residence.

The gruesome details of this harrowing incident have been revealed in court.

Shakira Spencer's lifeless body was discovered in her Hanwell flat after a concerned neighbor noticed maggots seeping from beneath her front door. Once a 'voluptuous size 16,' Shakira had been reduced to a mere 'skin and bone' by July of the preceding year.

Shockingly, she had been surviving on nothing more than sachets of ketchup while enduring unspeakable abuse and captivity, as detailed during the proceedings at the Old Bailey.

The accused individuals in this horrific case are Ashana Studholme, 38, and her partner Shaun Pendlebury, 26, both residents of Ealing, along with Lisa Richardson, 44, from Harrow. They stand accused of both murder and preventing a lawful burial.

The prosecution, led by Allison Hunter KC, paints a chilling picture of the control and torture inflicted upon Shakira Spencer, a woman once described as 'beautiful, happy, and healthy.'

The accused trio not only took over Shakira's flat and finances but also subjected her to a life of slavery while recording their acts of abuse. The prosecutor, Allison Hunter, described how they treated Shakira Spencer with 'complete contempt, viewing her as less than human.'

Their actions took a darker turn by September 9 and 10, where they collectively escalated their torment of Shakira.

On the fateful morning of September 10, Shakira attempted to enter Ashana Studholme's home through the front door but, as usual, was directed to the side entrance. Approximately half an hour later, Ashana Studholme sent a text message to Lisa Richardson, stating that she had harmed Shakira and urgently needed her presence, even if it meant facing legal consequences.

As the night unfolded, Shakira Spencer was subjected to fatal beatings, as described by the prosecutor.

In the morning, Ashana Studholme withdrew £20 from Shakira's bank account and purchased supplies from Poundland, including a refuse sack, anti-bacterial wipes, disinfectant, and latex disposable gloves. Neighbors witnessed Lisa Richardson and Shaun Pendlebury handling bin bags outside the property on this hot day.

Rather than disposing of the evidence in their own waste bins, Shaun Pendlebury was captured on video running with a sack in each hand, intending to deposit the refuse in other people's bins. Later, he borrowed his aunt's red Honda Civic, which they used to transport Shakira to her own flat.

The disturbing saga continued as Shakira struggled to stand while being assisted by Ashana Studholme. Despite her evident difficulty, they remained inside for an hour and a half. After the fatal beatings had occurred, Shakira Spencer was placed in a cupboard within her own flat. Subsequently, they returned to Ashana Studholme's residence around 11:30 a.m.

In a chilling twist, the accused couple bought kebabs and were captured on camera laughing and joking upon their return to Ashana Studholme's home. The following day, Lisa Richardson appeared to send texts attempting to acquire a padlock for the cupboard where Shakira was confined.

They continued to monitor Shakira inside the cupboard.

On September 14, at 7:27 p.m., Ashana Studholme sent a Snapchat message to Lisa Richardson, likely in response to the question 'Is she dead yet?' By this time, it is presumed that Shakira had succumbed to the brutal beatings.

Ashana Studholme and Shaun Pendlebury likely moved her to the bed and left to visit Lisa Richardson's flat to discuss their next course of action.

Shaun Pendlebury then borrowed his aunt's caravan, suggesting the idea of disposing of Shakira's body inside it had been discussed. He arrived at Richardson's address with the caravan on September 15, later driving it to a location near Shakira Spencer's residence in Ealing.

All three accused individuals, Shaun Pendlebury, Lisa Richardson, and Ashana Studholme, face charges of murder and preventing a lawful burial. The trial is ongoing.

In another news, a 33-year-old man from Indiana is facing a sentence that will likely keep him in prison for the rest of his life due to a fatal stabbing he committed in 2020. He also accidentally recorded the whole crime in a voicemail message he left for his mom. See detailed story here
