In the UK, a 26-year-old Nigerian man named Olusegun Babalola has been handed an eight-year prison sentence for drug dealing.
The arrest of Babalola occurred on May 19, 2023, following a police raid at his residence on Whitsed Street, Eastfield. This operation was part of a broader effort to combat drug dealing and exploitation in Peterborough.
After months of collecting intelligence, the police established that Babalola was engaged in the distribution of crack cocaine and heroin in the city through involvement in a "county lines" operation.
On the morning of the raid, officers discovered heroin and crack cocaine wraps worth over £7,000 hidden within a tissue box on the kitchen countertop.
Additionally, they uncovered drug-related items such as small weighing scales and multiple mobile phones, one of which was confirmed to be the "deal line" for the county line operation. The flat also contained a substantial amount of designer clothing and footwear.

Babalola appeared before Peterborough Crown Court on September 15, where he received a sentence of eight years and three months in prison.
He had previously admitted to five counts, including supplying crack cocaine, being involved in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, and possession with the intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
Detective Constable Olly Campbell, the investigator in the case, remarked, "Babalola had a significant amount of designer goods in his possession, which did not align with the lifestyle of someone claiming to be unemployed. Through various investigative methods, we gathered substantial evidence that not only proved his involvement in drug dealing but also his leading role in the county lines operation, ultimately leading to his admission of guilt in court."
Babalola becomes the seventh individual to face sentencing under Operation Tsunami, an initiative aimed at addressing exploitation and illegal drug activities in Peterborough.
The enforcement phase, which spanned May, resulted in 48 arrests, with 19 individuals charged with 83 drug-related offenses and five individuals collectively receiving 24 years and 11 months in prison.
In another news, four individuals have found themselves behind bars following an extensive investigation into a shooting incident at a bustling Ealing restaurant. Detectives meticulously traced their movements using a combination of CCTV footage, phone data, and vehicle GPS. See detailed story here
