Justice Prevails: Four Men Convicted in Ealing Restaurant Shooting Case

Four individuals have found themselves behind bars following an extensive investigation into a shooting incident at a bustling Ealing restaurant. Detectives meticulously traced their movements using a combination of CCTV footage, phone data, and vehicle GPS.

Lee Morgan, aged 42, residing at Waterside Court in Leybourne, Nicholas Grant, aged 46, with no fixed abode, and Elton Charles, aged 50 from Liddell Gardens in Kensal Rise, have been found guilty of conspiring to possess a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence after a five-week trial at Kingston Crown Court held in July and August 2023.

During a hearing on September 15, each of these three men received a five-year prison sentence.

Nathanial St Aimie, aged 49 from MacMillan Way in Tooting, took a different route, pleading guilty to conspiring to possess a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence on the second day of the trial. He was subsequently sentenced on September 15 to six years and three months of imprisonment.

The incident that sparked this investigation occurred at approximately 21:30hrs on September 6, 2022, when a gunshot pierced the window of a restaurant teeming with patrons on Greenford Road in Ealing.

Miraculously, no one sustained injuries.

Promptly, officers from the Specialist Crime unit launched an intensive inquiry, gathering hours of critical CCTV footage from the vicinity.

The individual responsible for firing the shot, later identified as Nicolas Grant, was captured on CCTV alighting from a white van, though the license plate remained obscured. The investigative team expanded their scrutiny of the CCTV footage and eventually managed to uncover the van's registration plate, tracing it back to a van rental agency.

Diligent efforts by detectives unveiled that St Aimie had rented the van two months prior, and GPS data indicated that the vehicle had returned to his residence shortly after the shooting incident.

Further inquiries disclosed that St Aimie, utilizing a disposable mobile phone, had conducted surveillance of the restaurant the day prior to the incident and subsequently orchestrated the involvement of his co-defendants in the shooting.

Evidence gleaned from WhatsApp messages and data extracted from the defendants' mobile phones indicated their coordination and presence in the vicinity at the time of the incident.

Financial gain emerged as the driving motive behind this shocking shooting incident.

Detective Constable Meechok Maingarm, the lead investigator, remarked, "This was a shocking attack, and it was only by sheer luck that no one inside the establishment suffered any harm. It left many individuals present profoundly shaken and instilled genuine fear in the restaurant's proprietors."

He went on to commend the exceptional dedication of the investigative team, emphasizing that the amassed evidence substantiated the culpability of all four men, who had been in contact prior to the incident and played distinct roles in executing this premeditated and deliberate act of violence.

In another shocking incident, a second young suspect has been apprehended in the tragic hit-and-run case in Las Vegas that claimed the life of a retired police officer who was intentionally struck while riding his bicycle. See detailed story here.
