Closure for Victims' Family: Florida Man, Cassandritz Blanc Sentenced to Life for Brutal Murder of Pregnant Wife and Father-in-Law

A man from Florida has been handed a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the brutal murder of his pregnant wife and her father.

Cassandritz Blanc, aged 27, admitted to the Fort Lauderdale police that he killed 20-year-old Martine Bernard, his wife, because he felt she had disrespected him.

Shockingly, he then proceeded to hunt down her father, 68-year-old Roosevelt Bernard, but couldn't bring himself to confront the man face-to-face, opting to shoot him from behind instead.

Martine Bernard was six months pregnant at the time of her tragic death on June 4, 2018. Prosecutors revealed that Blanc was aware of her pregnancy when he committed the heinous act.

Roosevelt Bernard was found dead and burned near the family's residence.

Blanc was considered a suspect in her disappearance, and his recent change of plea hearing confirmed investigators' suspicions.

He confessed to killing his wife due to perceived disrespect on June 4, 2018, and then, five days later on June 9, he traveled to her parents' home with the intent to kill Roosevelt Bernard.

Blanc later revealed that he followed Roosevelt into Martine's old bedroom and shot him in the back.

Afterward, Blanc lied to his mother-in-law, claiming that a Hispanic man had knocked on the door and requested her husband's presence outside. Roosevelt never returned.

Blanc eventually admitted to fabricating the story about the Hispanic man. He confessed to moving his father-in-law's body to a nearby field in a trash can and setting it on fire using gasoline and matches.

Regarding Martine Bernard's body, Blanc left it in her apartment for a week, according to reports.

Authorities grew suspicious of Blanc during the missing person investigation and monitored his activities.

One night, detectives observed Blanc approaching their unmarked patrol car with a flashlight, behaving erratically.

Later that night, Blanc dragged Martine Bernard's body in a trash container and left it near the dumpster in an apartment complex alleyway.

Despite his gruesome intentions, Blanc failed in his attempt to dismember her body.

As a result, Blanc received three life sentences for two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree murder of an unborn child. Additionally, he was sentenced to two 15-year terms for two counts of abuse of a dead body.

Prosecutors, in consultation with the victims' family, reached this plea agreement, providing a sense of closure to the family.
