Idaho Horror: Mother Arrested as Police Unearth Baby's Remains in Shocking Case

In Idaho, a 32-year-old woman named Jessica Lynn Weeks was apprehended last week following a disturbing discovery by the police. The authorities found the skeletal remains of her newborn daughter crammed inside a carry-on suitcase, concealed within a backyard doghouse where it had been hidden for months.

Weeks now faces multiple charges, including injury to a child, failure to report death, and concealing or destroying evidence related to the infant's tragic demise.

The infant had tragically passed away shortly after birth, but Weeks reportedly refrained from seeking assistance from authorities. Her reasons included an outstanding arrest warrant and a history of drug use leading up to the birth, as reported by East Idaho News.

The investigation into this harrowing incident began when an incarcerated individual in Cache County, Utah, conveyed information about a deceased newborn in Bannock County, Idaho, to his mother.

Disturbed by this revelation, the concerned mother promptly contacted the police, disclosing that her son possessed knowledge about a "deceased infant" whose body was concealed within a piece of luggage near the doghouse in the backyard.

The inmate, whose identity remains undisclosed, reiterated his account when questioned by the police. He identified Jessica Weeks as the baby's mother and asserted that she had declined medical attention during pregnancy due to drug use.

Additionally, the inmate claimed that one of Weeks' female friends had been present during the baby's birth.

Another inmate had knowledge of the deceased newborn and claimed to have witnessed the remains. According to his account, he stumbled upon a suitcase several months after Weeks gave birth. Upon opening it, he made the grisly discovery of a newborn's body wrapped in plastic, with one of the infant's legs touching his arm.

This second inmate provided investigators with a detailed map of Weeks' property, which matched satellite photos of the residence. Armed with this information, authorities obtained a search warrant for Weeks' home on June 5.

Upon execution of the warrant, officers immediately detected the scent of decomposition emanating from the yard. Their search led them to the discovery of a purple carry-on style suitcase within the doghouse, containing the skeletal remains of the newborn, surrounded by various insects.

The infant's body was subsequently transported to the local morgue for autopsy.

Weeks was found hiding in a shed on the property and was arrested on an outstanding drug-related warrant. Subsequent investigations included interviews with the friend who had been present during the baby's birth in January.

According to the friend, Weeks had declined medical assistance during labor and even stopped to smoke a cigarette during the delivery. After the baby was born, both the friend and the child's father attempted to resuscitate the infant for approximately an hour, but tragically, their efforts were in vain, and the baby succumbed.

Toxicology tests on the child returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. Examination of Weeks' phone revealed her concerns about seeking medical attention due to her existing warrants.

Weeks is currently held at Bannock County Jail with a bond set at $50,000. She is scheduled to appear before Magistrate Judge R. Todd Garbett on October 5.
