Legal Consequences Loom for Pennsylvania Man, Andres Marin, Following Child's Fatal Fall from Truck Bed During An Innocent Jollyride
In a recent incident that unfolded in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania, a man named Andres Marin is facing serious charges following a tragic accident that resulted in the unfortunate death of a 7-year-old girl.
Here's what happened:
On that fateful day, August 22nd to be exact, Marin was behind the wheel of a 1996 Subaru Sambar, and in the back of his truck bed were five children aged between 6 and 12.
The kids were out for what can only be described as an impromptu joyride in their neighbor's truck. As the truck meandered along the roads near Jolly and Harvard, tragedy struck when one of the children, a 7-year-old girl known as SK, fell from the truck bed.
Marin reacted swiftly, stopping the truck immediately. He then took the injured girl, SK, to her parents' house. From there, he proceeded to drive the girl and her father to a nearby hospital.
The situation quickly attracted the attention of law enforcement.
Police arrived at Marin's residence in Plymouth, where he cooperated with detectives. During their search of Marin's garage, they discovered bloodstained clothing, which Marin had apparently changed after coming home from the hospital.
As investigators delved deeper into the incident, they obtained statements from the four other children who were in the truck at the time. These young witnesses recounted that they had asked Marin, their neighbor, for a ride while they were playing outside.
Marin, agreeing to their request, took them on a ride around the neighborhood, with the children in the truck bed.
Tragically, it appears that the 7-year-old girl leaned over the edge of the truck, leading to her fall.
What's particularly concerning is that at least two of the children who were interviewed mentioned feeling a "bump" just after the child fell from the truck.
Additionally, a doorbell camera captured the moment when Marin picked up the injured child and placed her back in the truck bed before driving her to her parents' home.
It's crucial to note that the law prohibits children under the age of 18 from riding in the open bed of a pickup truck while on a roadway.
Consequently, Marin's actions have led to grave consequences.
Police have stated in an affidavit that by allowing five children, all under 18 years of age, to ride in the open bed of his pickup truck, Marin committed an unlawful act that put these children in danger and tragically led to the death of the 7-year-old girl.
Marin now faces serious charges, including homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, and other offenses.
