Major Drug Supplier in Calderdale, Khumran Mohammed Taj, Sentenced to 18 Years in Landmark Case

A significant player in the illegal drug trade within Calderdale, Khumran Mohammed Taj (pictured above), 41, has been sentenced to 18 years behind bars.

The verdict was delivered at Bradford Crown Court, where Taj was found guilty of participating in a conspiracy to distribute Class A narcotics in West Yorkshire and Luton.

Taj's legal troubles began in January 2022 when law enforcement executed search warrants at properties in both Halifax and Luton.

These operations led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of Class A drugs. Taj was subsequently charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including possession with the intent to distribute and conspiracy to supply.

In addition to Taj, Craig Collins, a 48-year-old resident of Illingworth, was also sentenced to 20 months for his involvement in the same conspiracy.

Detective Constable Chris Bailey, part of the Calderdale District Precision Team, commented on the case, stating that Taj held a central position within an organized crime group (OCG) responsible for the widespread distribution of Class A drugs in Calderdale.

He expressed the hope that this sentencing serves as a strong message to those engaged in illegal drug activities in the Calderdale area.

The message is clear: law enforcement is actively pursuing individuals involved in drug supply, and collaboration with partners will continue to ensure that they face legal consequences.

Meanwhile in Houston, two local residents have received federal prison sentences after being found guilty of carjacking with the intent to cause severe harm or death. See detailed story here
