Man Evading Child Sex Abuse Charges Takes His Life After Hotel Shootout

 



A guy on the run from the law for child sex abuse charges took his own life on Friday after he shot two federal marshals who were trying to arrest him at a hotel in South Carolina, according to investigators.

A special crew of U.S. Marshals was attempting to nab George Curtis at an extended stay hotel near Columbia when shots were fired, as per a statement from the agency. Two marshals got hit, but their injuries aren't life-threatening, officials confirmed. After the gunfire, Curtis turned the weapon on himself, as reported by authorities.

Curtis was wanted by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in Georgia on charges related to child rape, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery, and two counts of child molestation.
