Manhunt Ends: London Police Apprehend Prison Escapee Daniel Khalife

London's Metropolitan Police have successfully located and apprehended Daniel Khalife, ending a three-day manhunt for the escaped terror suspect who broke out of prison on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police confirmed Daniel Khalife's arrest, stating, "Metropolitan Police officers have arrested Daniel Khalife, who escaped from HMP Wandsworth on Wednesday 6 September."

Khalife's capture occurred just before 11 a.m. local time (6 a.m. ET) on Saturday in the Chiswick area of west London. Earlier in the day, search efforts had been refocused in this area.

The police expressed their gratitude to the public and the media for their support throughout the investigation and promised to provide further updates on his arrest.

The 21-year-old terror suspect's daring escape from Wandsworth Prison on Wednesday triggered an extensive search operation that caused flight delays and increased security checks at British ports.

Khalife, a member of the British military, was in custody, awaiting trial on terror charges related to allegedly planting fake bombs at a military base, as reported by the UK's PA Media news agency.

He vehemently denied all three charges against him.

In a daring escape, Khalife secured himself beneath a delivery van, disguising himself as a chef. When police eventually located the truck, approximately two miles east of the prison, Khalife had vanished, leaving only the strapping used in his escape, which officers discovered beneath the van.

This incident has sparked criticism of the prison service and the government, prompting the launch of an independent investigation.
