Terminal Chaos: Police Car Fire at New York's LaGuardia Airport

In an eye-catching video that's gone viral, a police car was seen engulfed in flames just outside the arrivals area at Terminal C of New York City's LaGuardia Airport.

The incident caused quite a stir, leading to a temporary closure of the terminal as first responders worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze, which took approximately two hours.

Brittany Aubert, who captured the dramatic footage, shared her account of the incident.

She mentioned that traffic had already been redirected by the time she recorded the video. The fire appeared to have completely consumed the front of the police SUV, creating a chaotic scene.

Even an officer passing by couldn't help but pause to witness the inferno.

After the fire was brought under control, Terminal C was able to reopen at around 5:45 a.m., ensuring that airport operations returned to normal.

The New York City Police Department and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the entity responsible for managing the airport, have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.

This isn't the first time LaGuardia Airport has made headlines for security concerns.

In April, a New York City man was arrested at the same airport after he claimed to have "forgotten" that he was carrying a loaded gun and over 100 bullets in his carry-on bag while going through a security checkpoint.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers discovered a .22-caliber firearm inside the man's bag during an X-ray screening, which had triggered an alarm.

Further inspection of the man's belongings revealed not only a loaded gun with ten bullets but also two boxes, each containing 50 bullets.

The individual explained that he had previously taken the bag to a shooting range and simply forgot that the gun and ammunition were still inside when he headed to the airport. This incident served as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough security checks at airports to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff.

In another development in Michigan, a 23-year-old woman is now facing hit-and-run charges linked to the perplexing death of another young woman named Mia Kanu, also 23. The tragic incident unfolded in Southfield, a suburb of Detroit, after a late-night party. See detailed story here.
