In Missouri, a "dangerous" convicted sexual predator, Tommy Boyd, managed to escape police custody while serving a 30-year sentence for statutory sodomy.
This incident unfolded on Thursday when Boyd left Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis around 3:55 a.m., prompting a search by the St. Louis County Police Department. Fortunately, Boyd was successfully apprehended the same evening.
The St. Louis County Police Department reported, "Tommy Boyd was located and taken into custody without incident in the 7300 block of Watson Road a short time ago. St. Louis County Police Department’s Special Response Unit was following up on leads when they located Boyd and took him into custody."
This collaborative effort between local, state, and federal law enforcement played a crucial role in ensuring public safety.
Boyd had been transferred from the Potosi Correctional Facility to the hospital for treatment on September 20. Surveillance footage captured his escape from the hospital, with the last sighting recorded at 3:54 a.m. on September 21, 2023.
Described as a white male, 5'7", 154 pounds, with balding hair and a beard, Boyd was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black jacket, and orange slippers.
