Video - Mexico's Gender Reveal Party Takes a Deadly Turn with Plane Crash

In Mexico, a gender reveal party turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when a pilot crashed his plane while flying over the gathering of excited partygoers.

A viral video captured the moment, showing a red Cessna-type aircraft flying dangerously close to the ground as it approached a couple standing in front of a sign that read "Oh baby." The plane released billows of pink smoke before the left wing abruptly detached from the main body of the aircraft, causing it to spin and veer to the left.

Meanwhile, the couple embraced each other as confetti cannons erupted around them.

Reports from the local news site El Sol de Sinaloa revealed that the pilot crashed in a farmland area behind the country estate where the gender reveal party took place on  Saturday evening. The impact left him with severe injuries.

Emergency responders from the Sinaloa Red Cross rushed to the scene to provide immediate medical attention to the pilot.

Unfortunately, despite their efforts, authorities later confirmed to CNN that the pilot succumbed to his injuries.

The pilot was identified as 32-year-old Luis Ángel by El Sol de Sinaloa.

An ongoing investigation seeks to determine the causes behind the tragic crash. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported among the party attendees due to the accident.

Social media discussions surrounding the incident suggested that a confetti cannon fired beneath the plane might have contributed to the left wing's detachment.

Interestingly, despite the shocking incident, many partygoers seemed unaware of the accident and continued to celebrate the gender reveal.

This incident echoes a similar tragic event in Cancun in 2021 when another gender reveal party ended with a plane crash.

During that incident, both the pilot and co-pilot lost their lives as their plane crashed into the ocean while displaying a gender-revealing banner.

In 2020, a California couple also faced dire consequences during their pregnancy celebration when they accidentally ignited a wildfire using a "smoke-generating pyrotechnic device" to announce their baby's gender.

The wildfire scorched nearly 22,000 acres of land, claimed the life of one firefighter, and left two others injured.

Remarkably, Jenna Karvunidis, the blogger who is credited with pioneering gender reveal parties in 2008, has since expressed deep regret for initiating this trend.
