A woman has been taken into custody following a shooting incident involving a man she claims to be her husband near the vicinity of SW 41st and May on Sunday afternoon, as reported by the police.
According to authorities, the woman dialed 911 to report that she had shot the man in the shoulder, and she said she hopes he dies.
Captain Ben Weir of the OKCPD stated, "When they arrived at the scene, they discovered the female suspect in a vehicle accompanied by a couple of dogs."
The injured husband managed to drive himself to a local hospital despite suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Fortunately, his injuries are expected to be non-life-threatening.
The neighborhood residents found themselves amidst a chaotic scene, unsure if the involved couple were residents of the area.
Teresa Bryson, a long-time resident of 41st Street, described witnessing the commotion, with police vehicles and emergency services arriving at the scene.
Bryson, who has called the neighborhood home for over two decades, expressed that such incidents of violence were sadly not uncommon in their community.
She remarked, "Nothing is normal in this neighborhood; I've seen it all."
Bryson highlighted that such occurrences have been a part of their neighborhood's fabric for the past two decades, making it a somewhat regular occurrence.
Despite the challenges, Bryson expressed hope for positive change in their community, emphasizing the need for neighborhood improvement.
She concluded by expressing her wish for the injured man's recovery, adding, "They just need to clean up this neighborhood; hopefully, the guy will be okay."
The police continue their investigation to uncover the circumstances that led to this unsettling shooting incident.
