Chicago Father Found Guilty of attempted Murder in Revenge Shootings Following The Tragic Killing of His 9-year-old Son in 2015

The recent conviction of Pierre Stokes, a Chicago father, has shed light on the complexities of gang-related violence and revenge in the city. Stokes, aged 33, was found guilty by a jury after several hours of deliberation for attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and a related gun charge. 

The case revolved around his alleged involvement in a retaliatory shooting incident in 2016, where the girlfriend of one of the individuals connected to his son's tragic death and her two adult nephews were wounded.

Prosecutors detailed the intricacies of the feud between the Bang Bang Gang/Terror Dome faction of the Black P Stones and the Killa Ward faction of the Black Gangster Disciples, implicating Stokes as a member of the latter group. 

According to their account, the tragic sequence of events stemmed from a prior shooting in October 2015, which claimed the life of Corey Morgan's brother and left his mother injured, leading Morgan and Dwright Boone-Doty to target Stokes. 

Initially planning to send a message to Stokes through the execution of his grandmother, the situation escalated, ultimately resulting in the targeted killing of Stokes' 9-year-old son, Tyshawn Lee.

The trial also revisited the convictions of Morgan, who received a 65-year prison sentence, and Boone-Doty, who was sentenced to 90 years, in connection with Tyshawn's slaying. Kevin Edwards, the accomplice who facilitated the getaway, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and received a 25-year prison term. 

Shockingly, during a bond hearing in 2016, prosecutors alleged that Boone-Doty had confessed to fellow inmates about the heinous details of Tyshawn's murder, including a discussion about mutilating the young boy.

In a tragic turn of events, Stokes took matters into his own hands and targeted Morgan's girlfriend, Robyn Matthews, at a gas station on the South Side, inflicting injuries on Matthews and her nephews. 

While the prosecution emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law, Stokes's defense argued that the timeline of events didn't align with the narrative of retaliatory justice
