Chilling Confession: Serial Killer, Ramon Escobar Admits to Murdering Cellmate Over Hygiene

In California, there's a notorious serial killer who first murdered two of his family members and then went on to kill five random strangers. Shockingly, he recently confessed to authorities that he killed his cellmate, who was a convicted child rapist, because he couldn't stand the guy's hygiene.

This shocking revelation comes from court documents obtained by Fox News Digital and local reports.

The serial killer in question is Ramon Escobar, aged 52, who was charged with the murder of his cellmate, Juan Villanueva, aged 53, in September. Villanueva, a convicted child rapist, was found dead in his cell a few months earlier.

The confession unfolded unexpectedly. When an officer arrived to check on Villanueva, Escobar blurted out the confession without any prompting, saying, "Hey, I'm sorry Jenkins, I killed him," as per a probable cause affidavit.

Villanueva had been serving a life sentence for sexually assaulting a child under 14 and arrived at the facility just days before his murder, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The guard at North Kern State Prison discovered Villanueva unresponsive, and Escobar was present in the cell at the time.

In May 2022, Escobar had been sentenced to multiple life prison terms plus 124 years, arriving at Kern in December. On the other hand, Villanueva received a life sentence with the possibility of parole in October 2022 and entered the Kern prison on February 2. They were temporarily held together in the medium security facility as California corrections officials planned to move them into permanent placements.

It's worth noting that this same facility has housed Tory Lanez, the rapper involved in a shooting incident with Megan Thee Stallion, and Phil Spector, the music producer turned killer.

Newly revealed court documents suggest that Escobar provided a motive for the killing. He allegedly strangled Villanueva due to the latter's poor hygiene, as reported by KGET-TV based in Bakersfield.

Escobar was already serving two life sentences without parole along with an additional 124 years for seven murders committed in California and Texas.

His murderous spree began with the killing of his aunt and uncle in Texas, and he then fled to Southern California, where he committed a string of robberies and murders in a 14-day period in 2018. Notably, the remains of his aunt and uncle, Dina and Rogelio Escobar, have never been located.

A plea deal saved him from facing the death penalty in Texas, and he is currently serving his life sentences in California.

The other victims have been identified as Juan Antonio Ramirez, aged 51, who succumbed to complications from the 2018 attack in 2021, Branden Ridout, aged 24, Kelvin Williams, aged 59, youth sports coach Steven Cruze, aged 39, and Jorge Martinez, aged 63, according to FOX LA.
