In California, a 26-year-old woman embarked on a chaotic car chase that left a trail of crashed squad cars and uprooted trees before she abandoned her vehicle in the midst of a bustling highway. She then fled on foot towards a Denny's restaurant, and notably, her wig got left behind in the process.
The incident, captured by local Fox affiliate KTTV using SkyFox news cameras, drew comparisons to the popular video game "Frogger," where players must navigate busy pathways without colliding with obstacles.
The driver in question was identified as Niqwayzh Green, as reported by local ABC affiliate KABC. The Corona Police Department did not immediately respond to inquiries from Law&Crime.
Green found herself surrounded by at least three police cars in a parking lot within the Southern California town. In a desperate attempt to escape, video footage reveals Green slamming her vehicle into a police car before plowing through two tall trees and making a dramatic exit from the parking lot.
She then continued to evade the police by smashing through a chain-link fence and hurtling onto the 91 Freeway in Los Angeles.
On the freeway, Green drove on the wrong side, and the erratic pursuit was captured on camera. A ladder dragged along the pavement, and her vehicle raced down the highway as oncoming traffic passed by. Eventually, Green abandoned the vehicle, darting on foot across the busy freeway.
After exiting the freeway, Green made a beeline for a nearby Denny's restaurant. As she burst inside, her wig fell off in the process. An employee at the Denny's reported that he witnessed a woman rush in, seemingly brandishing what appeared to be a gun.
The employee noted that only one person was present in the restaurant at the time.
The employee recounted, "She ran in, flashed a gun and ran out to the back. The cops came in right away after it. It looked like a gun... I’m assuming it was a gun."
Following a standoff with law enforcement, Green was arrested and transported away in an ambulance. She now faces charges of evading, assault with a deadly weapon against police officers, and possession of stolen property. Authorities revealed that Green was already on parole for burglary, though it remains unclear if she has legal representation.
In another development, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters has released body camera footage from the widely publicized arrest of Le’Keian Woods, asserting that the use of force was justified. However, Woods' family is urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate what they perceive as another act of injustice. See detailed story here
