In a deeply disturbing incident, a naked woman's lifeless body was paraded through the streets on the back of a pickup truck by Hamas fighters. The armed men, clad in combat fatigues, were surrounded by a cheering crowd that included young onlookers.
They chanted "Allah Akbar" as the truck moved through the area. Shockingly, some individuals in the crowd even spat on the woman's lifeless form before the vehicle sped away, marking a day marred by unprecedented violence against Israeli civilians.
The woman was later identified as Shani Louk, and her family, after viewing a video of the incident, clung to a glimmer of hope that she might have survived. Tom Weintraub Louk, Miss Louk's cousin, recognized her by her tattoos and long dreadlocks.
According to reports, Miss Louk had been attending an outdoor music festival near Kibbutz Urim when militants forcibly entered the area.
Disturbing videos of this incident and other attacks quickly spread on social media, drawing comparisons to the tragic events of 9/11. In one heart-wrenching video, a tearful woman named Noa was seen being placed on a motorcycle, reaching out to a man whose hands were bound behind his back by captors. Noa had also been at a music festival before being abducted into Gaza.
Hamas released footage showing a group of Israeli men, some in uniform and some not, lying on a concrete floor in a dark room, their hands tied behind their backs. A bright light was used to expose their faces to the camera, and their expressions revealed their fear. In another distressing clip, soldiers were forcibly removed from a smoking tank and made to lie on the ground, with at least one being executed.
Palestinian men were seen riding on top of a captured Israeli armored car, and a lifeless Israeli soldier was brutally treated by an exuberant crowd, celebrating what they saw as a "victory."
Hamas, in its ruthless assault, did not limit itself to military targets; unarmed civilians were also brutally targeted. In one video, an elderly Israeli woman appeared strangely composed as she was driven into the Gaza Strip by armed men on a golf cart. Another older woman remained stoic in a chair while a Hamas terrorist, his face concealed and an automatic weapon in hand, flashed a victory sign with his fingers.
Meanwhile, an Israeli settler, identified online, took selfies while being led away by her captors. A convoy of Toyota trucks carrying jubilant terrorists was filmed entering Gaza, with the crowd eagerly recording at least one hostage tied up in the back of a vehicle.
A bloodied Israeli woman was filmed being removed from the trunk of a different jeep by a man brandishing a handgun in what appeared to be the Gaza Strip. She had her hands bound behind her and was bleeding through her trousers.
Shaky smartphone footage, captured by terrified Israelis from balconies and windows, showed Hamas terrorists walking through the streets. On one highway, several cars and a van had their windshields and windows shattered by gunfire, and the occupants lay lifeless on the road or slumped behind the wheel. Two cars had collided, presumably in a desperate attempt to escape the terrorists' bullets. A woman's lifeless body lay some distance away, suggesting she had been shot while trying to flee.
In one widely circulated video, a terrorist reassured a family with young children in their home that they would not be harmed, emphasizing that if he had intended to kill them, he would have done so already. The children, in Hebrew, questioned the armed intruders about their presence and the gunfire.
In another clip, Hamas militants discussed the possibility of showing mercy to an Israeli mother and her two children, although the outcome remained uncertain. The Israeli government confirmed the abduction of a "significant" number of hostages. A group of three Israelis was seen crowded into the back of a trailer, embracing each other for support amidst apparent looted bicycles as they were taken away from Israeli territory.
A terrorist, armed with an automatic weapon, opened the door to a building, revealing a pile of bloodied bodies, including at least eight Israelis in civilian clothing. He fired multiple shots, seemingly in a cold-blooded execution of one of the wounded individuals.
Natan Levy, a professional mixed martial artist, shared an image of four deceased individuals, including two elderly victims, lying face down in their own blood at a bullet-riddled bus stop.
A group of heavily armed terrorists was captured on film firing at passing cars from a white truck on a road in Israeli territory, resulting in tragic casualties. In one photograph, a young woman lay lifeless in her car, with a gaping bullet wound in her side.
Ofir Liebstein, who had expressed hope for the future just hours before, was named as one of the initial casualties, killed in a confrontation with Hamas militants.
As the situation unfolded, the police chief of Rahat, a predominantly Arab town in southern Israel, was also reported to have been killed.
