Charlotte E. Sena: New York Kidnapping Suspect, Craig Ross Jr., Arraigned on First-Degree Kidnapping Charges Overnight in an Emergency Arraignment

Craig Ross Jr., a 46-year-old New Yorker accused of kidnapping a 9-year-old girl from a bike trail near Lake George, faced first-degree kidnapping charges in a 3 a.m. arraignment, as per jail records.

Governor Kathy Hochul, during a late-night press briefing, disclosed that the suspect was identified through fingerprints on a ransom note he allegedly left in Charlotte Sena's mailbox around 4:20 a.m. on Monday.

Records indicate that he was booked into Saratoga County Jail in Ballston Spa, New York, at approximately 3:40 a.m., with no immediate availability of a mugshot.

In an emergency hearing before Justice Tim Brown at Milton Town Court, Ross was arraigned on a kidnapping charge during the early morning hours, as per court documents obtained by Fox News Digital. State police filed a felony complaint, stating that "the defendant did abduct [the victim] and wrote a ransom letter with the intent to compel the payment of a ransom for her."

Ross is held without bail on a single count of first-degree kidnapping, according to New York State Police.

State and federal tactical teams executed a raid on a camper behind his mother's double-wide trailer in Milton, near Saratoga Springs, on Monday evening. Hochul announced during a news briefing that "the suspect was located within the camper" and was taken into custody after some resistance. 

The abducted girl was found concealed in a cabinet and promptly rescued. Charlotte was subsequently reunited with her family after being taken to a local hospital.

As of the governor's statement around 11 p.m. on Monday, Ross was still undergoing questioning, and court documents were not available until business hours on Tuesday.

Hochul revealed that Ross' fingerprints were found on the ransom note due to a 1999 drunk driving charge, which allowed authorities to access his prints in a law enforcement database. They reportedly observed him dropping an item into the mailbox while state police stood guard near the family home.

Local reports also indicated a misdemeanor charge of "obstruction of breathing" against Ross in April 2017, as per the Saratogian newspaper.

Charlotte's aunt, Jene Sena, expressed relief at her safe return, stating, "We are just elated she came home."
